A first website for a Sligo community arts charity, built to welcome visitors, showcase the space and make it easy to get in touch.
The Nest is a community arts centre on Custom House Quay in Sligo, run by Branching Out Art, a volunteer-led registered charity founded in 2009. The space hosts workshops, performances, exhibitions and creative events for people of all ages, but until now it had no website.
This is something we see often when building websites for charities and community groups: a genuinely valuable organisation that’s hard to find online. The Nest relied entirely on word of mouth and social media to reach people. Anyone wanting to hire the space or find out what was on had no central place to go.
As such, the brief was to build a website that reflected the warmth and creativity of the space, presented the venue clearly for potential hirers, and met WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards so the site could be used by everyone.
